HANDS was commissioned to renovate the existing Spanish Revival Style house built in 1922. The design of the house was carefully crafted to honor the architectural heritage and integrity of the surrounding neighborhood. The courtyard is enclosed by three volumes of the house, featuring white stucco walls, a red-tile roof, arched windows and doors, and tasteful ornamentation. This design maintains the historic character of the 1920s while also creating a minimal and contemporary feel that seamlessly connects the interior and exterior spaces.
The interior plan has been completely transformed to include a modern open kitchen, new stairs, and a reconfigured layout that accommodates the client's needs. The 5,100 square-foot house has been reinvented to create contemporary living spaces that fully open to the courtyard, where the couple's favorite trees and flowers are located. The main living areas are uniquely designed to offer stunning views of an old pine tree, all while embracing contemporary California living.
